《刀锻大赛》是在纽约布鲁克林拍摄的。“锻造车间”配备了各种金属加工设备、丙烷锻造设备、煤锻设备、动力锤、磨床、液压机等，选手们将在“锻造车间”内铸造刀具。在每一个淘汰回合结束时，武器被评为最差的铁匠就会被淘汰，并离开游戏。医务人员会在现场处理任何与锻造相关的损伤或其他健康问题，如果他们确定参赛者无法安全参赛，他们有权退出比赛。

在老爷车挑战的新转折中，四个铁匠必须从锻造厂见过的最破旧的车辆中锻造一把刀。经过一轮紧张的测试，把他们的武器推到了极限，这两个幸存的铁匠回到自己的家锻造了两个历史上最独特的武器——一套匹配的弧线卡塔尔。最后，史密斯的武器只赢了一把，为他赢得了1万美元的奖金和“火中锻造冠军”的称号。
